Joint ACER and ENTSOG workshop on maximisation and efficient use of gas transmission capacities

Dear Stakeholder,

ACER and ENTSOG would like to invite you to a public hybrid workshop on 14 March 2023 from 10:00 to 15:00 CET - in-person at the ENTSOG office and online.

This workshop enables dialogue among stakeholders to share insights on how capacity has been maximised to deal with changed flows and congestions in the European gas systems. It also aims to inform stakeholders on the status of implementation by Member States of Article 14 of Council Regulation (EU) 2022/2576 on more effective use of transmission capacities.

In response to changing gas supplies, in particular increased liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies due to reduced supplies from Russia, gas transmission systems are now being used differently than originally planned. The changed flows have led to congestion in important parts of the European transmission system causing inefficiencies in the market functioning. ACER and ENTSOG emphasise the urgency of addressing congestion to ensure the proper functioning of the European gas markets. In the workshop, ACER and ENTSOG will share observations on congestion and present measures implemented in response to flow changes to maximise the availability and efficient use of transmission capacities.

The workshop will be divided in four sessions with expert presentations, and two for interactive Q&A:

  • Observations on congestion in gas transmission systems during 2022;
  • Concrete examples of fully used capacity;
  • A summary of the steps taken to reroute gas flows since the beginning of the European energy crisis;
  • Implementation of Article 14 of Council Regulation (EU) 2022/2576 on more effective use of transmission capacities.

The detailed agenda will be available at the ‘Agenda’ tab of this page shortly.

Registration:

Deadline for registration is 6 March 2023. Please use the 'Registration' tab on this page and indicate if you plan to join in-person or online. The Microsoft Teams access link will be sent to those who have registered online a few days in advance of the workshop. The number of seats for in-person attendance is limited: a waiting list will be made available.

For any questions, please contact Karolina Golonka (karolina.golonka@entsog.eu) or Nina Buh (nina.buh@acer.europa.eu).
