POWER TO GAS

Energy System Integration

Integrated infrastructure planning for electricity and gases is essential to support the decarbonisation of the energy system sector, particularly for facilitating the transport of renewable gases like hydrogen. Better integration will allow for the optimisation of the energy system as a whole, across multiple energy carriers, infrastructures and consumption sectors, by creating stronger links between them, to achieve a cost-effective decarbonisation of the EU economies.

Gas Connect Austria GmbH

Wind2hydrogen

The Wind2Hydrogen pilot facility in Auersthal, Lower Austria was in operation from January 2014 until the end of 2017. It converted power from wind turbines into transportable, storable hydrogen using a new, specially developed electrolysis process that responds very quickly to changing loads from a wind farm, and can economically produce high pressure of around 165 bar.

Snam Rete Gas S.p.A.

TEP Energy Solution

The acquisition of TEP Energy Solution (TEP), one of Italy’s leading enterprises in the energy efficiency sector, is part of Snam’s strategic plans aimed at facilitating decarbonisation and better energy use in the areas where it operates. Snam intends to accelerate TEP’s growth process, with the support of the company’s management, and facilitate the transfer of energy efficiency know-how and technologies from large businesses to small and medium-sized enterprises and local institutions.

Fluxys Belgium S.A.

HYOFFWIND

Colruyt Group (Eoly), Parkwind and Fluxys join forces in power-to-gas. With the green energy project Hyoffwind, the partners want to build a power-to-gas installation to convert renewable electricity into green hydrogen through electrolysis. Hyoffwind has been set up as an industrial-scale installation (electrolysis of 25 MW of electricity), in line with the industrial projects that are being developed in neighbouring countries.

Swedegas AB

Power to Gas

Swedegas has taken the initiative to develop Power to Gas in Sweden together with representatives from the Swedish energy industry. As part of a preliminary study, the conditions for Power to Gas were examined from a Swedish perspective. We are now planning to start up a pilot plant in Sweden.

SGI

Pegasus

Pegasus Project aims to produce 100% renewable methane on an industrial scale through an integrated system of conversion of water to hydrogen through RES powered electrolysis and CO₂ supply from biomethane upgrading processes with subsequent methanation and feeding into SGI transport network with access to all services of the gas system.
